Roberto Obando Prestol
Programs Director, Chief of Party, Citizen Security and Justice, Pan-American Development Foundation (PADF)Roberto Obando is a public policy specialist with 15 years of experience in institutional development, Rule of Law, citizen security and justice. In his native Dominican Republic he served as Director of Programs at the Presidential Commission for Justice Reform. Additionally, Mr. Obando served as Executive Director of the National Institute for Public Administration and General Director at the Office of the Attorney General. He has worked, collaborated and partnered with organizations throughout Latin America. As former President of the World Bank’s Global Development Learning Network Latin America (GDLN Americas), provided oversight to a network of institutions and research centers devoted to promote international development and cooperation for better democratic governance. Has worked as consultant for several programs funded by the IDB, USAID, UNDP, the World Bank and ILO. Currently serves as Director of Peace, Justice and Security at the Pan American Development Foundation, affiliate to the Organization of American States (OAS). In that role, he works as team leader for several citizen security and justice programs in Belize, Bolivia, Colombia, El Salvador, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, and Trinidad &Tobago. Mr. Obando has a Law Degree from Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra in Santo Domingo, DR; a Master in Public Policy from Duke University, USA; and postgraduate certificates from Harvard University, USA and the University of Oxford, UK.
